Beautiful Balinese Welcome Dance: Pendet Dance
Pendet Dance was once at issue in tourism domain. The dance belonging to Hindu community of Bali was displayed in a promotion package of Malaysian tourism without prior permission to the government of Indonesia where as the dance itself purely belongs to Bali and Indonesia. The following is the brief history of pendet dance in Bali.
Pendet dance constitutes a dance presentation to ancestors (Bhatara and Bhatari). It is regularly presented at the outermost courtyard of temple, facing to a shrine where Bhatara and Bhatari abide. The dance is performed by women in customary attires and they bring silver bowl with wide rim filled with canang sari, flowers and kwangen. Some of them also bring ritual paraphernalia such as holy water container and earth ware flask. This dance is performed en masse, led by a temple priest and the dancers bring a pasepan or aromatic barks burnt on standing tray.
At the ending session, some dancers put the offerings, canang sari and kwangen in the shrine, while others sprinkle the flower to Bhatara as their honor. This dance is accompanied by gambelan music. At some regions in Southern Bali, this dance is presented in duet by some pairs of dancers called Gabor Dance. Sometimes it is also inserted with male dancers bringing kris dagger that later on known as Baris Pendet Dance.
In the 1960s, the Pendet Dance was presented to welcome guests in relation to Bali as a tourist destination. Interestingly, it was once performed en massed on the opening ceremony of Asian games in Jakarta on the special request of President Soekarno.
Today, the Pendet dance is usually presented by six to eight female dancers in arranged costumes. At the end of the dance, the flowers are sprinkled to guests.
My Japanese Friends
I have a Japanese friends, her name is Masako, such a name like "Penyedap Masakan" for making food taste more deliceous, Indonesion people will be laught hearing it. She is a nice woman, a good friend. Last time she came, she brought her friend Kazumi, she also nice woman, a good friend. We have a lot of fun, such going to traditional restoran, dinner at hotel, going around Bali, etc. Is good to makes friends in Bali, isn't it. I hope the friendship will last forever.

Kerta Gosa at Klungkung
This 17th-century restored complex houses the Hall of Justice, where the King of Klungkung meted out punishments. The Taman Gili or Garden Pavilion, a former guard's house lies on the premises. Exquisite painted ceilings in wayang style cover these pavilions. The Hall of Justice sports gruesome paintings highlighting what happened to sinners. Above these panels--the story of Bima Swarga, who goes to hell to search and redeem his parents' souls. Taman Gili's panels show a wedding, the story of Sutasoma slaying a dragon and pictographs of horoscopes.
The entire complex is known as Taman Gili, but the name Kerta Gosa is better known. Balinese culture has its own system called adat, meaning traditional law, but for serious offenses Kerta Gosa was the end of the line. Kerta Gosa is located right in the center of Klungkung next to the main roundabout. The gardens of Taman Gili, in which Kerta Gosa sits, were built in 1710. The most impressive thing is the decorated ceiling containing terrifying artwork depicting good vs. evil. No doubt criminals facing trial shivered before the judges realizing the seriousness of their actions. While enjoying the royal court at Kerta Gosa murals featuring the Pan Brayut story, inside the Bale Kambang, located behind it. Tegenungan waterfall
Bali has a selection of waterfalls that are fun to visit. For many people the idea of hiking through the jungle to a hidden waterfall and taking a cooling swim is the image of paradise. These places definitely exist and here are some useful tips of how to find them and what to expect. Waterfalls are sharp drops along the course of a river. You will often have to hike up or down a river for a certain way to get to a waterfall, but the river provides a route for you to follow.
Where is it near:
The waterfall at Tegenungan is 7km SW of Gianyar.
Directions:
Located at the village of Kemenuh. There are 2 ways to get to the waterfall. Go 0.5km west from Blahbatuh, turning south at the next junction. Look out for a sign for the Waterfall Restaurant. This way will put you on the same side of the steep river valley as the waterfall and bungee tower. The best view is from the other bank, which can be accessed by driving 1km west from Blahbatuh towards Kemenuh village. Signs indicate the direction of the waterfall. If lost ask a local.
How far from Kuta:
It should take you no more than an hour to drive from Kuta, locate the access points and arrive at the waterfall.
Where is the nearest food:
On the western bank you’ll find the Waterfall Restaurant and a small warung. If you want a decent meal Ubud is just 8km north.
How far is the waterfall from the road:
A small local road allows cars and motorbikes to drive up to the top of the valley overlooking the
waterfall. Five minutes to hike down.

Located just 2km from Sukawati market, a trip to Tegenungan waterfall might fit into a day trip after visiting the market.

Candidasa the view of 30th years ago of Kuta
Located on the northeastern coast of Bali, is the small village of Candidasa. A tranquil coastal area nestled between the Lombok Strait to the east and mountains to the west, Candidasa is within close proximity to many historical landmarks of Bali including Bali's mother temple, Pura Besakih, Tenganan (the aboriginal people of Bali) as well as the ferry terminal to Lombok. Some of the best diving and snorkeling areas in Bali are also within the Candidasa area. As Candidasa has become more popular with day-trippers, the demand for accommodations and eatery places has grown to wide selection that ranges from star rated properties to simple homestays. All in all, Candidasa is a great place to go for a few days of relaxation.
History Notes:
Candi Dasa is the name of a temple on the side of the road to Amlapura / Karangasem. From the ancient relics in the temple, Candi Dasa can be dated back to the 11th century, although there are no complete data on the history of the temple as such. The words "DASA" means ten. It refers to the 10 holy teachings of the TRI PITAKA, the Buddhist scripture. It is also a place to worship Shiva.
Candi Dasa is a temple of Hinduism and Buddhism in one. The fresh water pool in front of the temple which flows into the sea adds beauty to the scenery.
In recent years Candi Dasa has develoved into a popular tourist resort, yet it is unspoiled, peaceful and a pleasant retreat from the hustle and bustle of today's crowded cities.
It could be said to be a retreat to the "last paradise"...
