Yeh Sanih Bali Natural Water

Yeh Sanih is about 17 kilometers from Singaraja. Yeh Sanih is a place with natural water source which is right on the edge of the beach. But the water in this place does not taste salty because it water source comes from Lake Batur. Water from these sources are often used in Hindu religious ceremonies. In this place there is also a temple that dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. The name of Yeh Sanih is derived from YEH SANIA that means South East. Because the potency of the tourism, the Local Government of Bali decided that Yeh Sanih is one of the 21 tourist areas in Bali. Cool sea breezes, tall trees, and the nice panorama over the Bali Strait make for a serene setting.

Visit the 'pura' on the hill, Pura Taman Manik Mas. In the mornings take a swim in the ocean-more like a lake than a sea. Not a soul on the beach to bother you. Quite passable snorkeling 500 meters out, another good snorkeling spot one km away.

Seven km east of Yeh Sanih is the ancient temple Pura Pondok Batu ('Pile of Stones') perched on a small rock face and surrounded by hills, valleys, and twisted frangipani trees. It's said the wandering Javanese priest Nirartha sat on one of the temple's stones and composed poetry.

Inside the temple is a well-crafted but eroded statue of Durga. Nearby on the beach at low tide is a freshwater springs frequented by locals, the water bubbling up from the sand and running into the sea.

Nusa Lembongan view

Nusa Lembongan is located about 11 km southeast mainland Bali, measuring only four km and ringed with mangrove swamps, palms and white sandy beaches. The island is small enough to explore on foot, offering pristine beaches and coves, majestic view of Gunung Agung, unique Balinese architecture and friendliness of a simple country folk. Nusa Lembongan is consist of two administrative villages: Jungut Batu and Lembongan village, both villages are heavily involved in the cultivation of seaweed. Jungut Batu village offers the island's best accommodations and water sport activities.

How to get there??

Took the ferry from Sanur. It was 140,000 rupiah for a round-trip ticket. The boat leaves from the beach just east of Dunkin’ Donuts and KFC. When you’re heading on the main highway going north through Sanur take the right when you see Dunkin’ Donuts. This intersection is the next intersection after McDonald’s. The beach is just 200 m down the road. You can buy your ferry tickets here. There are two ferries leaving from here; the public ferry and the tourist ferry. The public ferry is only 50,000 rupiah one-way but this boat is usually overcrowded with locals who smell bad and are throwing up nonstop because of seasickness. The tourist ferry is referred to as “Perama”. This ferry is not overcrowded, has more comfortable chairs, and has far less people throwing up over the side. There was only one lady who ended up getting sick out of 25 or so people. And on the way back nobody got sick.

It takes about one hour to get to Nusa Lembongan from Sanur. The ferry ride is not rough because the ferry has outrigger pontoons to keep the boat steady. If the weather is clear you will be able to see both volcanoes. On super clear days Lombok is visible to the east. As the ferry travels northeast along the shoreline the black sand beaches of Keremas are also visible. I guess there are a couple good surfing spots around Keremas but I have yet to check them out. One of the few waves in Bali that goes right.

Once you arrive Nusa Lembongan the ferry will have to negotiate its way through the reef and seaweed farms before dropping you off on the beach. Upon arrival there will be touts offering you accommodation and to carry your bags. I usually ignore everybody and make sure they aren’t following me while checking out the bungalows and guest houses that line the beach.

Nusa Penida : The Golden Egg of Bali

Not many people know that Bali has a part (district) at south-east side consisting three islands. The biggest one is named Nusa Penida. The smaller island is called Nusa Lembongan and the smallest one is known as Nusa Ceningan, this island is situated between Nusa penida and Nusa Lembongan. Each of them has own tourist destination and unique art. However, Nusa Penida offers awesome beaches that are still pure and conservation for birds, plants, and turtle, and a very special dance, because of that people often call it as Golden Egg but it has not hatched yet. Why?

Nusa Penida is a district belonging to Klungkung regency. In order to get to Nusa Penida you have to take a trip to Padang Bay first. Then, you have to cross Badung Strait (between Bali Island and Nusa Penida) using “Roro-Nusa Jaya Abadi” the only ferryboat that can help you cross to Nusa Penida. After spending about one hour voyage then you will reach Toya Pakeh Harbor. At there you can travel the island by “omprengan” or modified pick-up car.

Nusa Penida has many tourism destinations that can be enjoyed. Beaches are very easy to be found in this island, Puncak Temu where you can find beautiful scene, several choices of art performance can be watched.

A beach which is closest to the harbor is situated in Toya Pakeh village. In this beach, there is a floating restaurant. The most important thing is you are allowed to dive in this beach and see very beautiful reef. Indeed, in this beach, reef is an important component that is still preserved from any damage.

Besides Toya Pakeh Beach, Nusa Penida has a very cozy beach. It is around 4 km from Toya Pakeh. This beach is situated in Sakti Village at Banjar Penida. I guarantee you that this beach is different from the famous Kuta or Sanur. The beach which people call it Crystal Bay, is very quiet, far from crowd. The water is sparkling blue. The sand is black but it is covered by white sand. The beach is very clean because people at Banjar Penida keep it clean. And the beach is gated by escarpment.

Far from the beach, situated on the top of elevated ground is Puncak Temu, from this place you can get bird-eye view of beautiful scenes of Nusa Penida. There are also some white shrines can be found in this place. Around the srines, there are many trees seems keep it from outside world. Different from other places at Nusa Penida which tend to be dry and lack of water, Puncak Temu is dominated with lush green vegetables signing that water is available there.

On very south of Nusa Penida there are villages named Sekartaji and Suana. In these villages, Nusa Penida Endemic Bird: little sulfur-crested cockatoo can be found. In all regions in Nusa Penida there is only four little sulfur-crested cockatoo left. One female and others are male. You are lucky if you can take a photograph of this bird since this bird is very energetic.
Nusa Penida does not only offer the amazing tourism destination but also unique dances. Sanghyang Dewa dance is one of them. This dance must be danced by little girl who has not got menstruation yet. People of Nusa Penida categorize it into sacred dance because it is danced on special day at the temple. That little girl is unconscious while she dances it.

The explanation above is only a few from various arts and tourism destinations in Nusa Penida. However, not many tourists have information about this island and only few tourists visit this island. Nusa Penida is a potential tourist destination but it has not managed yet. No wonder this Golden Egg has not hatched yet.

Nusa Penida Island

Nusa Penida area is about 202,8 km2. From outside of the island, this island look very desolated, but when you enter this island you will see various beautiful panorama on each side of the island, on the journey to Nusa Dua inside the boat or ship, you will see many fish that jumping on sea surface, also some of birds that hunt the fish. You also able to see many reef on the sea surface shaped like a lot of small island. Near Nusa Penida you also able to see a big reef that called Batu Abah, this reef shaped like a big rock in the sea, in this area there are so many fish, so for tourist that have a fishing hobbies, this place is one of place that should be visited. In batu abah also there are so many of birds, hunt the fish in that area. You will feel like on the show of Discovery Channel if you visit this place. Other side of Nusa Penida you also able to see small island with thousand bats, not an island actually because this place onle a reef. In that island you also can see some of Eagle nest near the top of it.

Balinese Barong Dance

Barong
is a character in the mythology of Bali. He is the King of the Spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda in the mythological tradition of Bali. "Lord of the forest" and magical protector of Balinese villages, the Barong is a mythical, shaggy half-dog, half-lion creature, with a long mane, fantastic fangs, and bulging eyes. It is propelled by two men who maneuver the costume with whimsical and mischievous movements to express its fun-loving nature. The Barong's opponent is Rangda, the evil witch who rules over the spirits of Darkness. The Barong dance epitomizes the eternal struggle between good and evil. The fight of Barong and Rangda is also a topic of traditional narratives performed in temples and takes various forms.

The lion barong is one of five traditional Barong. In Bali each region of the island has its own protective spirit for its forests and lands. Each Barong for each region is modeled after a different animal. There is a boar, a tiger, a dragon (or serpent) and the traditional lion. The lion is the popular one as it comes from the Gianyar region where Ubud (the home of tourist viewed ritual) is located. Within the calonarong, the dance drama in which the Barong appears, the barong responds to Rangda's use of magic to control and kill her to restore balance.
