Nusa Lembongan Beach the Dream Beach

Nusa Lembongan is approximately 8 square kilometres in size and is one of three neighbouring islands, the others being much larger Nusa Penida and tiny Nusa Ceningan (also covered by this article). The three islands are separated from Bali by the Badung Strait.

Fast becoming one of Bali's most popular attractions, this island paradise is a world away from the hassle and hectic pace of South Bali. There are no hawkers, no traffic, magnificent scenery and this is the perfect place to put your feet up and relax. Main activities include surfing, diving and snorkeling. Some tourists may find the island a little slow after the pace of southern Bali.

The water is some of the clearest you can find and vivid aqua blue in color. Most areas aroudn the island are good for diving and snorkeling with abundant marine life and live coral. Surfing can get a bit crowded but the waves are good. There are several white sand beaches away from the main centres which are virtually never rarely crowded. There is a flourishing and well established seaweed farming industry here and many visitors find it interesting to learn about this.

There are two main beach areas which have traditionally attracted visitors. Jungut Batu in the north is the bigger of the two with a myriad of hotels, restaurants and cheap eateries and has traditionally attracted backpackers, families and surfers. In more recent times, the hillside to the south of Jungut Batu (the Bukit) has been developed and attracted higher level hotels. The views from the Bukit are second to none on Nusa Lembongan. Sunsets are best viewed along the main Jungut Batu beachfront.

Mushroom Bay to the south-west of Jungut Batu is a quaint, attractive and sheltered bay. It is a nice spot after 3PM when the day trippers have gone home and it has a great white sandy beach along with some cozy little restaurants that line the beach. Further south the lesser known beaches either side of the Devil's Tear outcrop are increasingly drawing more visitors.

Padang-padang Beach Beautiful Perfectly Quiet Beach

Bali has numerous beautiful beaches. Padang-padang beach is the one quiet beach and clear sea water in Kuta. Located at Uluwatu. With only 25 minutest from Kuta, use the road towards Nusa Dua, turn off to Uluwatu road, past the Dreamland turn off, right hand turn towards Bingin, down hill to Padang Padang, to access the surf you have to walk past large chunks of lava rock and make your way to the right end of the beach. Directions: Bypass towards Nusa Dua, Uluwatu turn off, past Dreamland turnoff, right hand turn towards Bingin, down hill to Padang Padang. The large coral shelf is uncovered for the most part during low tide and is not recommended for surfing. Padang Padang has a beautiful wave but you have to be an advanced surfer to come here. The jagged reef is sometimes refered to as 'the cheese grater'.
People were friendly at Padang Padang and I think it would be a good place for a relaxing afternoon.

Uluwatu, Great Bali's Cliff Views

Uluwatu in one word would be: breathtaking. Translated, "ulu" means "land's end" and "watu" means "rock." Apart from its world-renowned super swells, which more than many consider Bali's best, Uluwatu’s lure is the absolutely mind-blowing panorama atop 100-meter cliffs, each angle as fantastic as the next. Take your pick of the many warungs perched on the cliffs from where you can drink off the Indian Ocean view while partaking of a hearty meal.

Uluwatu lies at the southern tip of Bali in the Badung Regency, Nusa Dua Peninsula, an infertile limestone plateau with a jagged coral coastline made accessible on wheels via a narrow paved road, and on foot via endless steep stairs. Just 30-minute scenic drive south of Kuta, the area is frequented by veteran surfers from all over the world who welcome Uluwatu’s rather menacing challenges. Definitely, NOT for swimming or rookie surfers.

Beautiful Nusa Penida Island at Bali

Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan. Nusa means island. You get here in 40 min by boat. This is the best diving site but it can be tricky sometimes because the currents can reach no less than 5 knots, but usually they are just right for diving. The visibility is always good, 25-40 meters. The reefs outside Toyapekeh at Penida are of world class and well worth a few dives. If you are lucky you will bump into the uncommon gigantic deep sea fish mola mola. Other quite common animals here are manta, shark, large turtles, moray, lionfish and clown triggerfish.

Are Bali Tourism Affected By Jakarta Bombs

Tourism business has not been affected in the Indonesian resort paradise of Bali, officials say, despite the recent deadly suicide bombers that attacked two luxury hotels in Jakarta.

“Hotel occupancy rate remains between 70 to 80 percent. There is yet negative reaction [on the inciden],” Bali Tourism Agency head Ida Bagus Ngurah Wijaya told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.

Wijaya also said that the agency has yet to see any decline of visitors from Australia, although the country has issued a travel warning following the deadly bomb blasts that are believed to have killed three Australians.

Wijaya said that tourism business people were expecting the government take firm measure to prevent such terrorism act from ever happening again.
