Julia Robert's Make Movie at Bali
Sony Pictures Entertainment will later this year film the Bali scenes of the screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best selling autobiography, Eat, Pray, and Love (EPL). Julia Roberts stars, as the book's narrator, and Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner will produce the film.
The Balinese provincial government confirmed on Friday it had issued the permits needed to shoot the film, with Roberts being scheduled to appear on set from Oct. 16 to Nov. 6.
The movie based on Pushcart Prize winner Elizabeth Gilbert's spirituality/travel memoir, “Eat, Pray, and Love” is about her self-discovery and soul-searching after her nasty divorce, exploring through Italy, India, and Bali, the last paradise on earth. After reveling in cuisine in Italy and exploring spirituality in India ashram (hermitage), she will find a balance between worldly pleasures and divine ascendancy in Bali where she will study with a ninth-generation medicine man and immerse in a love affair.
Director, Ryan Murphy, is currently scouting locations in Gianyar, Karangasem and Jimbaran, with much of the filming planned around the hillside village of Ubud. The shoot is planned to take place at the traditional markets and Monkey Forest in Ubud, along with the nearby villages of Demayu and Tegalalang, and in Badung, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua.
